Socialize with other RC 10 members on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, as we enjoy The Northern Hudson River Lock Tour/100 Years of the Erie Canal cruise. We will meet at the parking lot of the Dutch Apple Tours located at 141 Broadway, Albany, NY, at 11. Parking is free. The tour will begin at 11:30 and will go from Albany through the Federal Lock in North Troy. On the way, the boat will go under the CSX Railroad Bridge and pass the original terminus of the Erie Canal as well as historic Troy (home of the Industrial Revolution in America). This trip is now filled and registration is closed.

First stop will be The Cloisters Museum which is comprised of five Medieval cloisters imported from France and filled with art and artifacts which include The Unicorn Tapestries. An hour tour of the museum is included. We will then be taken to The Metropolitan Museum of Art where you are on your own to explore the largest art museum in the U.S. that includes over 2 million works!! Join RC 10 for an active day in New York City touring the Lower East Side as we explore the area where many of our immigrant grandparents may have lived! We will begin with a one-hour presentation at the Tenement Museum and learn about ONE of the following programs: Sweatshop Workers, where we will visit the Levine family's garment workshop and the Regarshevskys' Sabbath table at the turn of the 20th century; OR Hard Times, where we will discover how the immigrants survived economic depression at Orchard Street between 1863 and 1935, visiting the restored homes of the German-Jewish Gumpertz

RC 10 is sad to announce the passing of Daniel Boone on April 2. Dan was an active member of RC 10 and served as a delegate to the NYSUT Representative Assembly for many years. He was also a representative to the State-Wide NYSUT Retiree Advisory Council, our representative to SALT (a collaborative group established by the North Country Teachers Association), and a member of the RC 10 Travel-Social Committee for many years.  Known affectionately as "Santa Claus" by committee members because of his white beard and jovial attitude, Dan led trips to the Canadian Maritime; Washington, D.C.; the

RC 10's Annual Spring Luncheon will be held at the Shaker Ridge Country Club, 802 Albany Shaker Road in Colonie. The club is near the Albany County Airport. The noon luncheon will be preceded by a business meeting at 11:15 a.m. The highlight will be the celebration of RC 10 scholarship winners, RC 10 honorees, and 2017 retirees. Entrée selections will be Turkey Breast, Sliced Roast Beef, or Baked Salmon and will include salad, dessert, and coffee/tea.
