From May 11 to 20, 2017, RC10 sponsored a trip to Ireland for its members, planned by Doug Porter and accomplished through Celtic Tours. 34 members and guests discovered the breathtaking scenery and culture of Eire.

With the help of our informative and entertaining guide/bus driver Terry O'Connor, we enjoyed the sights of much of southern Ireland, and stayed in 4 different cities. On the first day, we experienced a ride along Dundalk Bay to the Cooley Peninsula and Carlingford Lough. RC 10 will hold another Joy Bear Workshop on Wednesday, June 7 from 10 am to 12 noon at NYSUT on Route 7 in Latham. Joy Bears are decorated teddy bears that are given to cancer patients to provide comfort as they undergo chemo treatment. It is the hope of the project to get dozens of bears decorated and delivered to cancer patients. This project only asks for your time. All materials are provided free of cost. As per the Retiree Council 10 Constitution, the election for officers, delegates, and alternate delegates will be held on June 1 during the business meeting portion of the Spring General Membership Meeting that will start at 11:15, at Shaker Ridge Country Club, 802 Albany Shaker Road, Colonie. Members do not need to attend the luncheon that follows the business meeting in order to vote.

Below is the list of nominees for each position whose term of office is July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020. Nominations will be accepted from the floor prior to the election.

Come along with RC 10 on a one-day trip at the peak of the foliage season to the Shelburne Museum located in Vermont's scenic Champlain Valley. This museum is one of the finest, most diverse and unconventional museums of art and Americana in New England. On the grounds there are over 30 buildings open with 21 beautiful gardens and the old side wheel steamboat Ticonderoga, just to name a few of the many attractions.

After spending the day touring the Museum, at 3:00 we will board the bus to move down the road to Shelburne Farms. Here we will have a guided tour of the Webb

You are invited to attend the sixteenth NYSUT Regional Conference for Retiree Council 10 on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Albert Shanker Conference Center, NYSUT Headquarters, 800 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, NY.

A variety of workshops and speakers are planned for the event. The cost of $18.00 includes a Continental Breakfast and a Hot Buffet lunch.

The noon luncheon will be preceded by a business meeting at 11:15 am. The highlight will be the celebration of the RC 10 scholarship winners and RC 10 honorees. Dear Graduating Seniors:

NYSUT RC 10 is pleased to announce a $500 scholarship award for 2017 public high school graduating seniors pursuing a degree in education at either a two-year college transfer program or a four-year college. This scholarship award will be given to one qualified student from each of the four counties represented by RC 10 (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington). Funds are paid at the end of the first semester of freshman year of college. Upon receipt of a successful fall semester transcript by March 15, 2018, funds will be issued directly to the scholarship
