PHONE BANK OR CANVASS FOR NYSUT-ENDORSED CANDIDATES

YOU can make a difference in this election by volunteering to phone bank or canvass door to door for NYSUT-endorsed candidates during these crucial last weeks of this year's election.

NYSUT encourages their retirees to consider participating in phone banking or canvassing as an important way to be politically active and contribute to efforts to elect individuals who will protect union rights, pensions, and public education.

Phone banking is probably one of the best ways to get to voters and make sure they hear about candidates and build support for them. You will be given a script to follow. It is very satisfying to talk with voters and share information that will help your candidate.

Help is needed to elect NYSUT-endorsed congressional, NYS Senate and Assembly candidates. The RC 10 Social Justice Committee is sponsoring two phone bank dates for retirees, on October 29 and November 1, from 10 am to 1 pm at NYSUT Headquarters in Latham. If you prefer evening sessions, there is a phone bank each Tuesday from 4:30-7, and on Thursdays from 3:30-8. These sessions are also both held in NYSUT Headquarters.

NYSUT will also be canvassing for our endorsed candidates. On October 20th, members will meet at 9 am in Troy at 635 and 2nd Avenue, and go door to door for Aaron Gladd for State Senate and Antonio Delgado for Congress. On October 27th they will meet at 267 Broadway in Saratoga to canvass for Carrie Woerner for Assembly, Aaron Gladd, and Tedra Cobb for Congress. If you have any questions about the phone banks or canvassing, and/or would like to sign up, contact rgunther@nysut.org.
