Come join Retiree Council 10 Board of Directors On November 15th at NYSUT Headquarters, 800 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham. Lunch will begin at 11:45 at a cost of $5.
David Keefe, President of the Board of the New York State Teachers Retirement System, will be a special guest of RC 10. Mr. Keefe is the retired teacher representative on the Board, elected to his position by NYSTRS retirees. He became president of the Board in Juy 2016. He chairs the Executive and Retired Members committees and serves on the Compensation, Disability Review, Ethics and Investment Committees.
Mr. Keefe spent 37 years teaching in the Hempstead Public Schools before retiring in 2004. For most of his career, he was president of the Hempstead Classroom Teachers' Association, and also served on numerous other education and community-related committees. An active member of NYSUT, he earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Long Island University. David will discuss with us the health and future of the Retirement System.
