NYSUT RETIREE RECOGNITION DAY 2025

The NYSUT Board decided in 2024 that Retirees should have a day to be recognized.  This October event, found in the NYSUT calendar, is used by NYSUT, regional offices and locals to celebrate us- the NYSUT retirees- and all the efforts we have made to create OUR union.  Let us know what your local did.

Travel/Social Committee Events

The Travel and Social Committee planned several events for our members this fall.  We kicked off with a Meet and Greet at the Mill in Round Lake and a boar cruise on Lake George to view the leaves.  This committee, led by Don Fenelli meets monthly to plan events.  Consider joining and helping to bring events to our members.

Many families have questions when a NYSUT/RC 10 Member dies.  This Q & A will hopefully answer a few of those.

Q: How does NYSUT’s Membership Department update deaths of retirees, and who can report that?

A: Membership takes the word of family members to record deaths. They also take them from retiree service consultants, retiree council leaders, local presidents, or retiree chapter leaders.

Q: Can member benefit programs continue after the death of a member? Is associate membership needed for that?

A: There is an electronic file that is sent to our vendors upon a member’s death. As long as the

Tri-County Literacy Center Holiday Auction

We had the Tri-County Literacy Center speak for us at an event.  If you would like to support them, here is some information on how to support them if you would like.

Thank you all for your past support and participation in Tri-County Literacy Center's annual Holiday Online Auction. This year we have another amazing assortment of items for you to choose from to help keep your holiday shopping simple or just to pamper yourself.

GF 2025 Making Strides

Making Strides- Adirondack Walk

So many members have been impacted by breast cancer: experienced it themselves, supported a family member or friend.  During October NYSUT joins the Making Strides Campaign.  Retiree Council 10 had a team at the Glens Falls walk. Thank you to all who pledged and walked to support the efforts to cure this disease.  Our team raised over $1000 for the effort- thank you so much.

RC 10 MEMBERS ARE HELPING CHILDREN LEARN, GROW and THRIVE!

2025-26 Back Pack/School Pantry FACTS:

$289 supports one student for a year

                                   $4,335 supports 15 students for a year 

                                                      $8,670 supports 30 students for a year.

SERVICE: THAT’S WHAT RETIREES DO!

So many of our retirees are involved in various volunteer activities in their communities.  We have heard from so many about how they are using their talents.
