(Applicable to NYSUT Retiree Council 10 Officials and Members)

Introduction

This NYSUT Retiree Council 10 Conflict of Interest Policy (“Policy”) shall apply to NYSUT Retiree Council 10 (“RC 10”), a retiree council duly formed under the NYSUT Constitution and Bylaws, whose jurisdiction and responsibilities are determined by the NYSUT Board of Directors.

Summary

According to this Policy, no RC 10 official or member shall:

  • Have a direct or indirect financial or personal interest in or relationship with any business, firm, person, or entity that does or seeks to do business with RC 10 or NYSUT.

You and your loved ones can limit the financial impact of a death by notifying the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System immediately when a retired member or that member’s beneficiary passes.
 
The System will need the following information:
Name of the deceased
Date of Death
Membership Status (Retired member or beneficiary)
NYSTRS EmplID of Social Security number, if applicable
Name, relationship and phone number of the person making the notification.
 
It will also be necessary to provide NYSTRS with an original or certified copy of the death certificate which will be returned to you.

The Theater  Development Fund (TDF) is a not-for-profit organization that exists to support theatrical works of artistic merit and encourage diverse audiences to support the arts, by subsidizing ticket costs for eligible members. Retirees (older than 62) are eligible for discounts of up to 70% on a number of live theater and dance productions.

As a part of the 2015 Education Transformation Act, beginning July 1, 2016, all permanently or professionally certified teachers or educational leaders and Level III teaching assistant certificate holders will be required to register with SED in the month of his/her birth. This registration process will be done using the State Education Department's TEACH system. These certificate holders will be required to register every five (5) years thereafter. There is no fee for registration unless the certificate holder fails to complete the process by his/her deadline. Late fees will not be charged
