NYSUT Retiree Council 10 2nd VP Sandie Carner-Shafran recently was awarded the American Federation of Teachers Gold Recognition Living the Legacy Award honoring 40 years of service and leadership!
Established in 1998, the Living the Legacy Awards recognize outstanding women leaders whose dedication, activism and service have strengthened our union, advanced women’s rights and positively impacted their communities. Years of leadership and commitment embody the spirit and mission of this distinguished recognition.
The award ceremony took place during the AFT Convention at the Women’s Rights at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. While working at the WSWHE BOCES, Sandie was a leader in her local- Saratoga Adirondack BOCES Employee Association (SABEA) and a tireless advocate for SRP's and Women's Issues.
