FALL GENERAL MEETING
OCTOBER 24, 2024
On Thursday, October 24, Retiree Council 10’s Fall General Meeting will be held from 9:10 to 2:30 at NYSUT Headquarters, 800 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110. The registration fee for the day is $20/person- which represents a subsidy by your Retiree Council 10.
Our itinerary for the day is:
9:10 - 9:25 am Registration—NYSUT Lobby
9:30-10:00 am Annual Business Meeting—Auditorium
10:00-10:15 am Break—with food
10:15-11:15 am Pete Savage, Deputy Director of Legislation for NYSUT, and Peter Kim, Regional Political Organizer for NYSUT, will update us on recent and future legislative action as well as how you can become involved in advocating for those issues.
11:15 - noon Marc Quinlan, Marc Quinlan, NYSUT Health Insurance Specialist, will discuss current topics and trends impacting health care, including the impact that the Inflation Reduction Act of 2023 and the end of Chevron Deference has had upon health care. He has a wealth of experience in the healthcare field in both the provider and payer side. With the many changes we are all witnessing in health care, this will be an important presentation.
12:00-12:55 pm Lunch—Dining Area
1:00 - 2:00 pm Carol Rosbozom, a representative from the NY State Office of the Aging, will provide an overview of services you can access for either yourself or a loved one. She will also go over the necessity of Caregivers having an emergency plan in place in case of a required evacuation. Each attendee will be provided with a Caregiver Emergency Planning Workbook which will be a place for you to record this important information. Even if you are not planning for an emergency evacuation, the workbook is an excellent way for you can communicate important information to family members when and if your own circumstances change.
2:10 - 2:30 pm Closing remarks, door prizes, and evaluations
