On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, enjoy a relaxing day with RC 10 seeing another side of the storied town of Cooperstown. First on the itinerary is the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard, Fly Creek, where the group will sample gourmet foods, creamy mill-made fudge, cheese, hard ciders, and apple wines and receive a $5 per person voucher towards purchases.

Upon arrival in NYC we will have a 65-minute tour of NBC studios located at Rockefeller Plaza.  To accommodate us, we have 3 tours of approximately 17 scheduled for 11:40, noon and 12:20. 

Once your tour is complete, enjoy the remainder of the day on your own following a suggestion below or your own fun activity!

  • Book theatre tickets on your own, the majority of Wed matinees begin at 2;
  • Enjoy lunch/dinner at great NYC restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen along 9th Ave.;

The Wizard’s Wardrobe , a free, one-to-one literacy tutoring program, is growing and needs tutors to commit to one, preferably two days of tutoring after-school. This program serves elementary school-age children living in the South End of Albany between the hours of 2:00 and 5:30, Mon. - Thurs. Tutoring sessions last 1-1/2 hours. With rising costs of education, the burden of student loan debt affects ability to purchase essentials like housing and vehicles. That burden has an effect on retirees as well, as they struggle to help their own children manage their debt load. In January, Commissioner Elia of the NYS Education Department published the list of schools identified as in need of improvement under the ESSA Accountability standards. Elia identified 106 school districts as Target Districts, 245 schools as in need of Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), and 125 schools labeled as Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI). NYSED also identified 26 new schools to be placed in receivership. The final report for the January 1-December 31, 2016, VOTE COPE campaign has been distributed; and because of your efforts and those of the active members throughout the state, the results were outstanding!

Statewide contributions were up 6.72 percent and a total of $10,101,097 was collected. This total is a new high for statewide VOTE COPE contributions! The results for the Capital District Regional Office, which includes Election Districts 10, 12, and some of 9, were even more impressive. The midway point of the 2017 VOTE COPE campaign has arrived and as of June 30, the Capital Region continues to do well.  Contributions by active members are up 4.41% on June 30, 2017, as compared to June 30, 2016.   Statewide contributions are up 4.35% for that same period.

Retiree contributions are calculated two different ways.  Some locals, such as the Albany TA, include retirees in their local and the local has the responsibility of contacting their retirees to encourage them to contribute.  It is difficult to calculate the progress of this group.  Those retirees
