Backpack program

In 2023, RC 10 members HELPED in LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The Backpack Donation since September 2023 is over $18,000!
  • FOOD BANK WAREHOUSE VOLUNTEERS. Every third Wednesday since September 2023, groups of 6-10 members sorted food for delivery to local food pantries. Thank you for your help!
  • In October 2023 a group of retirees walked with NYSUT members at the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Albany.
  • In December 2023, members laid wreaths at the Saratoga National Cemetery and many others purchased wreaths as well.

Over the past year, NYSUT members have turned out in big numbers to rally in all corners of the state to Fix Tier 6. Because of our ongoing advocacy, we’ve secured historic wins on our way to pension fairness: We reduced vesting from 10 to 5 years, protecting pensions for 85,000 Tier 6 members. We also lowered the Final Average Salary calculation from 5 to 3 years, the most significant pension reform in 20 years!

Now it's time for the biggest action yet.

On March 8, 2026, we will fill the MVP Arena in Albany with over 10,000 NYSUT members and other union
